SWIIS will be back in Vancouver in March 2010 looking to interview suitably qualifed Social Workers for Children & Families posts for East Sussex County Council. Representatives of East Sussex Council were so impressed with the quality of the candidates that they met in January, they want to hire more Canadians. The interviews will take place on March on dates to be confirmed in Vancouver and successful candidates will be offered Sponsorship, a full-time post and a Relocation Allowance to assist with your move.
THE LOCATION: East Sussex is on the South Coast of England with its borders at Brighton in the West and Rye in the East; Tunbridge Wells and Kent to the North and the English Channel to the South overlooking France.
THE ROLES: The vacancies are across the Children & Families Department for Children & Families Social Workers in the Duty, Youth Support, Looked After Children and Family Support Teams. Both short-term and long-term work is available within these teams and all posts will include carrying a manageable case load.
THE REQUIREMENTS: You will need to hold a Bachelors or Masters in Social Work. You should hold knowledge of theory and practice of child care planning and family support. You must have an ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with children and their carers in order to facilitate working relationships. You will need to demonstrate knowledge of child protection issues in relation to a working a multi-cultural community. You will need to demonstrate the ability to work directly with children and their families. You must have an understanding of the rights of the clients and a willingness to promote those rights with a particular regard to equality of opportunity. You will need to show the ability to keep work records, to plan, manage and prioritise work. You will need to make a minimum committment of two years to the UK.
THE REWARDS:Candidates will be supported to attend interview, have their GSCC paid for, benefit from a £26 – 36,000 ($46 - 66,000) salary for newer graduates and more for experienced staff. A Relocation Allowance of £5,000 ($7,500) additionally to this to pay for flights, shipping, and setting up home and is available for other relocation costs.
